The average cost of shipping a 20-foot dry container from Abidjan to Douala nearly doubled in 2025, making the regional route more expensive than shipments to Douala from Antwerp and Le Havre. The cost rose from CFA682,000 in 2024 to CFA1.328 million in 2025, an increase of 95%, according to data from Cameroon’s National Shippers’ Council (CNCC) cited in the 2025 Report on the Competitiveness of the Cameroonian Economy. For the full year, Abidjan therefore became more expensive than both European ports for container shipments to Douala. The average cost from Antwerp stood at CFA1.146 million, down 33% from 2024.…

Cameroon’s state-owned telecom operator Camtel plans to deploy 245 new mobile sites under its Mobile Network Expansion (MNE) project, which would increase its declared network from 473 to 718 sites, a 51.8% rise. The investment aims to strengthen Camtel’s own infrastructure as the operator remains well behind Orange and MTN in mobile subscribers and revenue.
