Cameroon’s Ministry of Water and Energy (MINEE) received the first batch of 16,000 smart electricity meters on September 23, 2026. The meters will be installed mainly in government buildings to improve the tracking of electricity use and make billing more reliable. The equipment was received in Douala by teams from the Electricity Sector Reform Programme Coordination Unit and the company responsible for supplying the meters. Once installed, the devices are expected to provide more accurate consumption data, help detect irregularities and reduce commercial losses in the electricity sector.…
