Cameroon’s National Hydrocarbons Corporation, SNH, and Perenco have released new data on exploration and development work in the Rio del Rey basin. The information was presented on September 17, 2026, in Yaoundé at a meeting marking the appointment of Julien Gras as managing director of Perenco’s Cameroonian subsidiaries. According to a briefing note prepared by SNH for the meeting, work at the Kita and Bokwango structures under the Rio del Rey production-sharing contract identified more than 30 million barrels of oil and more than 40 billion cubic feet of gas. Cameroon’s Banyo Plans 44 MW Solar Project Alongside Socadel Hybrid Program
A 44 MW solar photovoltaic project with battery storage is being developed in Banyo, in Cameroon’s Adamawa region. Socadel, formerly Eneo, is already working on a program to add solar generation to the local thermal power plant. The new project is being promoted by the Foundation for Development of Ecology & Humankind, Fondecoh, in partnership with the Banyo municipal council and Supernova Energy, according to the Electricity Sector Regulatory Agency, Arsel. S&P Sees Cameroon Growth at 3.5% in 2026
S&P Global Ratings has cut its 2026 growth forecast for Cameroon to 3.5% and raised its projections for the fiscal and current account deficits to 2.5% and 4.4% of GDP, respectively. The revised estimates were published alongside S&P’s September 18, 2026 decision to affirm the country’s long- and short-term sovereign ratings at “B-/B,” with a stable outlook. The new projections are less favorable than S&P’s March 2025 outlook. At the time, the agency expected average growth of 4.3% between 2025 and 2028 and fiscal deficits averaging close to 1% of GDP over the period.…

Microfinance Firm ACEP Cameroun Posts CFAF 803.6 Million Profit for 2025
ACEP Cameroun posted net profit of CFAF 803.6 million in 2025, up from CFAF 755.6 million a year earlier, according to data published by the Central African Stock Exchange, BVMAC, in its September 17, 2026 Official Listing Bulletin. Net profit rose 6.3%, or nearly CFAF 48 million. The increase outpaced growth in the institution’s net financial income, which rose from CFAF 7.745 billion to CFAF 7.970 billion over the same period, an increase of 2.9%. Net profit represented 10.1% of net financial income in 2025, compared with 9.8% in 2024. This was the second consecutive year of net profit growth.…
