Uganda – Emergency Assistance Project for Epidemic Response

The Ebola Bundibugyo Outbreak Response Emergency Assistance Project (LEVEB3) is a multi-country emergency health operation covering the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Uganda and South Sudan. It will support national and regional response plans through epidemiological and laboratory surveillance, early diagnosis, case management, infection prevention and control, community engagement, risk communication, and strengthened emergency coordination and project management. Priority areas include north-eastern DRC, particularly Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu; the western border districts of Uganda, including Bundibugyo and Kasese; and the border areas of South Sudan. The operation totals USD 3 million, financed entirely through grants from the Bank’s Special Relief Fund (SRF/FSS): up to USD 1 million for each of the three countries. Component 1, support to national and regional response plans, is allocated USD 2.4 million, while Component 2, project monitoring and management capacity, receives USD 0.6 million. Africa CDC is the implementing agency on behalf of the Ministries of Health of the three countries.
