Seven years after a fire crippled the National Refining Company (Sonara) on May 31, 2019, Cameroon is no longer looking to simply restore the country's only refinery. The government now plans to rebuild and modernize the facility under a CFA700 billion project, marking a major shift in both scope and ambition. The new phase officially began on June 29 with an international market consultation in Yaoundé. Cameroonian Coffee Wins New Route Into Europe Through Spanish Partnership
Cameroonian coffee roaster Beau Café and Spanish specialty coffee company Incapto signed a commercial partnership in Douala on June 26, 2026, aimed at bringing Cameroonian coffee to the Iberian market. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the National Cocoa and Coffee Board (ONCC), the public agency responsible for supporting and promoting Cameroon's cocoa and coffee industries. Under the agreement, Beau Café will supply Incapto with selected Cameroonian coffee beans. Incapto will roast the coffee to its own standards before marketing it across Europe.…

Cameroon Launches CFA87bn Water Network Expansion to Improve Supply in Yaounde
Cameroon has launched a CFA87 billion project to expand Yaounde's drinking water network, extending access to about 30,000 additional households. Water Resources and Energy Minister Gaston Eloundou Essomba launched the project on June 25 at Minkoameyos in Yaounde VII. The 36-month programme will modernise the capital's water distribution system while extending coverage to the neighbouring towns of Soa, Mbankomo, Mfou and Nkomo. The project follows the Yaounde Drinking Water Supply Project from the Sanaga River, which significantly increased water production capacity for the capital.…

U.S. oilfield technology and services company Baker Hughes opened a new service and equipment center in Douala on June 26, 2026, strengthening its presence in Cameroon as the country looks to revive its oil industry.
